Baden Remembered Guestbook

As I look back I realize how lucky I was to spend 4 years of my youth at Baden. The Raiders Hockey Team were my heroes in those days including my teacher Dave Carlye. To name others such as Wayne Farr, Real Francour,Dave Shephard, Jimmy Gebhart,Gerry Sullivan and fearless goalie Gerry Cote ( no mask in those days and I remember him breaking his nose and having to wear a helmet with a football type mask ). Some of the great games in the Swartzwald Arena saw the likes of the Flying Fathers, NHL oldtimers, Lahr Arrows, 3 Wing Flyers and the odd Check team gracing the ice. I was a goaltender for the Pee Wee Raiders when we went to the big tournament in Quebec City in 71.
My dad Gord Graves got his sargeant stripes in Baden as we headed to Greenwood, then to Scotland , ending in Edmonton.
I went on to complete my pro hockey career in England to which these days I coach the Irish National Hockey Team from my home outside Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Back in 1990 I managed to get back to Baden as I was back packing around Europe. I talked the recreation officer into letting me into the barracks for a few nights. It was great reminicing as I even managed to pass myself off into the officers mess to see how the other half live. Great Times
