hi to all who were in germany the same time as we were.we went back to europe in 1994 when al retired from the military.the boys and i got together and planned a greek island cruise,not only was it to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary at the time,but it was also a gift to al as a retirement present,he was astounded when we told him and excited too.we had a one nights stay in athens then we took a four day bus trip stopping at rhodes,crete,mount olympus and the fourth stop which i cant seem to remember the name of is where we boarded the boat to start our seven day cruise.we made a stop in turkey for half a day,then we stopped in isreal and visited the wailing wall,the church where jesus laid on the slab of marble,then a WALKING TRIP TO THE MOUNT OF OLIVES.next day we docked in port said and took a three hour trip to cairo,it was so so dirty on the way but thrilling just the same,there we went to the cairo museum to see king tut,s tomb,al was just aghast at the whole thing ,he said the trip was a fitting end to thirty four yrs in the military.on the way back we stayed in athens two more nights before heading back home ,we have just celebrated our fortyfirst wedding anniversary the twentysixth of sept.when we got off the bus in gaza we took a camel ride from the bus to the pyramids that was a big anxiety trip for me but you cant go to egypt and not do what the natives do (right)it was the getting on and getting off that bothered me(ha).well we hope to read the rest of baden remembers and see who else is their(what a great site) take care al&maggie alward email address maggieal@shaw.ca
