Gutenabnd: HI, I was a little 2 hooker at 4 wing 55-59, a sub tech, (if you can't fly go supply)employed in wing maint. and 422 sqdn. with a few trips to Deci. The Canada Bar in Soellingen was one of our hangouts. As a member of the Honor Guard I made a few trips to Nancy with the firing party to lay to rest many of our buddies. No matter how often we practiced, we could never get our rifles off at once like the Yanks. I still think they only used one bullet each time. Like most personnel from that period I'm getting long in the tooth, but still have fond memories even if I'm beginning to lose it.
Our dollar was 4DM20PFG. Cigs $1.00 ctn. 40 oz.$2.40. Stars and stripes a nickel and the Frauleins would say Ya Ya all day and Nein, Nein all night.
I played a lot of hockey during that period, chasing around the rink the likes of Twit LeBlanc, Trev White and his 444 boys, Muck Reading, Sleigh(Slay) from 419 Sqdn., Ray Lalonde, Ron Lenson, Terry Legrande, Johnny Mclanson, Jack Little, Pete Chaluk, Buffet, Pentland, Sgt.Martel from supply who put his new sports car in a slough and got charged by the MP's for fishing without a license. Some of my 422 team-mates were pilots, Zinkan, Gagoz, Fisher, Bob Dahl, Gerry Dusseault. Montieth, Fred Jenson, Joe Daigle, Ed Slaught, Bill Hughes and Horncastle, Norm Stouffer, Bill Cook, McDonald, Jack Linkletter, Gary Swinamer, Goalie Johnny Wheadon, Bob Sproule and countless others.
