Spent hours browsing thru this great site

WOW! Talk about flashbacks! There are so
many names I recall. Found this site with the help of Len McNabb who works
with me in the Halifax Regional Fire Dept. I didn't even remember Len
and I played hockey together in Baden
until I was going through some old momentoes one day. Small world! Would
love to hear from anyone who remembers me from our 72-75 Baden
tour.

DND at 19Wing Comox. We had a great four years and plan to someday return

This amazes me!! Came across this website
purely by accident. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only
one who used to think that living in Baden
was the the best time of my life! I was there from 74 - 79, went to BIS
and BSS. Over the last couple of hours I saw a lot of names that I know:
Christine Tapper, Walter Carroll, Steve Beazley, Dave Field (did you ever
find Pokey, Dave?), Ian O'Quinn, and Cyndi "Witchie" Lewis (remember Cindy
1 and Cyndi 2?) Use to hang around with Sylvia McSwan, Alison Mills, Kim
Sheppard. Lived in Hugie on Blumenstrasse, drank WeinScholle's at the
Sonne, it's all coming back to me... My parents are Lloyd and Ingrid Williams.
Dad was with the MP's. If you have any messages for them, email me and
I'll pass them on. And if anyone remembers me, I'd love to here from you.
Bis spater...

Can't believe its been 8 yrs since I returned.
Spent 6 yrs 87 to 93 in Baden,
1yr in 409 and 5 yrs in 1 AMS. Had an outstandig time, I began with Volksmarching
1500 kms (over several different events). Was an active participant (in
good standing) of Beer Tents and Fests some in the middle of nowhere and
NOT sanctioned events. Lived in Iffy fondly refered to as "THE BUNKER"
and enjoyed cycling on the numerous paths, every Monday you would see
the injuries substained from Fri&Sat evenings excursions, but we still
had our licences. Quarry parties were the norm when not travelling on
weekends and the great meals at the Louven washed down with countless
(check your coster) mugs of beer. Parties at Vic and Patsys, especially
when Ausbach Joe lived with them and the Pink Flamingos surrounding the
Ugly American who was wrapped up, passed out in the swimming pool. The
street Fests were really special and enjoyed the Smells and atmosphere
and having to maintain your place in line for anything. Loved every minunite
of it, especially when the Wall came down, travelling to Russia, Praugue,
Budapest. Am now in 400 Sqn and living in Barrie and have lots of pictures
which allow me to see where I have been of the " All You Can Drink Tours"
which I now have a Patent on.

Hey Y'all! It's hard for me to remember too
much of Baden....I
was nineteen and newly married when I arrived at the airport over there.
I left with a son in hand and one in my tummy. My husband (of 18 years)
is Dwight Ebel and worked with 1AMS, 409 Sqn, and J79 Engine Bay. He also
played hockey with every military team in Germany and the semi-pro team
Bad Liebensal Black Panthers there. We would love to hear from the crew.

My Father Ken Edlund was stationed in 4 wing

Yet again this site brings back so many wonderful
memories from our time in Germany- Do you remember my brother Marc? How
about my parents Linda and Real? I will be entering my third and final
year of law school (finally!) in the Fall. I've been "summering" at a
large firm in Toronto for the past 3 1/2 months and am loving the experience.
I look forward to completing school and returning for my articles. At
this point I still have no idea in which area I'd like to practice, however
I'm most interested in Intellectual Property, Corporate (Mergers and Acquisitions
and Securities) and Labour/Employment. If anyone recognizes the name,
please feel free to drop me a line- I'd love to hear from you.

It would be nice to go back and do it again,
I was with D Coy. 2PPCLI from 85-88. I think we got short changed, but
I'm grateful for the experiences both good and bad. I remember Tiffany's
on a Friday night. The Room International on a Wed. Benny's Balloon room
after Tiffs shut down, anfd the "drunk bus". Getting rid of hangovers
with a Cappy and a trip to Pizza plus. All the 5DM pieces after a night
out that would finance the next night out, usually starting at the CC.
The pungent sewer smell outside the Canex, and being pissed off at all
the French Nationals that would steal all the parking. Damn thier yellow
headlights. Soldiering was real and it meant something. The pride of being
Canadian and belonging to that small military community cannot be replicated
in Canada. God bless all the German women, and thankyou to all the Germans
that shared thier country with me. I have spoken to many that have returned,
it is heartbreaking to hear about the base, but the memories still remain.
Good job Sonja, keep up the good work.

I have discovered that most of the correspondence
is received from people who were at 4(F) Wing Baden
Soellingen long after the Sabres and CF 100's. Some even after the CF
104's I was stationed there from April 1962 to May 1966 and I saw the
transition from Sabres and CF 100's to the CF104's I was there when they
buried Bruce the Moose and also when 422 Sqdn was shut down to make room
for the QRA and the FOA. I was in the first formation of the Rube Band
which was started (the birth) by Bill Ratcliffe and when it was a "clown
band". I also played in the German Band at Oetigheim which was just off
the Bundesstrasse 36 on the way from Rastatt to Karlsruhe. I would like
to hear from personnel who were there during that time period.

Did you go to BSS between 83 and 85? I recently
hooked up with Raina and Naysa Caddey and Pam Simpson in Edmonton, all
with different last names, for a session reliving those years in Baden
and recounting where everyone is now. We are wondering what some of you
are up to. I'm at my brother, Kurt's place, for those of you from his
past, and have also heard from Jeanette Monk, Lisa Gray and Christine
McGrath, and of course, Sean Ludlam. If anyone is interested in contacting
any of those listed or communicating with me, just email. Hope everyone
looks back on Baden
with the best memories.

What a great site! I was in Baden
from 1972 to 77 as a dependant(dependable) wife and I worked in "snags"
canteen for four years and I also taught figure skating for the '76-'77
season. I wouild love to hear from anyone who might remember me, especially
some of the 240 skaters I taught! I have very fond memories of 'snags'
and my life at Baden!
I have often said that those were the best days of my life! Please, I
would love to hear from you!

What a great site. It sure brings back some
great memories of all the good times we had in Baden.
I was in Baden from
1971-1975. I have 2 sisters, Claudine and Suzanne Muckle. Claudine lives
in Montreal and Suzanne lives in Quebec a street away from me. We organized
the 1994 reunion in Montreal which was a great time. Would love to hear
from old friends. Feel free to drop me a line. It's nice to see that folks
who lived in Baden
always remember that special time in their lives which people who have
never been there don't seem to understand why we keep harping about that
place all the time. You just have to have been there to understand I guess.

My brother-in-law from Iffy stumbled across
this site and it sure brings back memories. I was in Germany from 78-83
and worked in 104 Repair, 421 Sqn, and then SRO. My nickname was Cowboy
back then as I wore a brown cowboy hat and chaps when on my motorcycle.
Was to Germany last August and it was disheartening to see the base now.
If any one who remembers me or the wife, a local girl from Iffy, please
look us up. By the way if anyone remembers Dave Smith (Smitty) who used
to drive a blue Moto Guzzi he is now a goat farmer in Choiceland Sask,
go figure.

Thanks for this wonderful site!! I have been
a regular visitor to this site for quite a while. You not only have given
us an opportunity to visit old friends, but should someone have a question,
you magically have the answer or forward them to another website. It truly
is amazing. Through this site I was able to get back in contact with another
person that I went to school with in 1972! I have read amazing comments
from people that are in awe of the trips that were available to us as
students. I was in Baden
from 1972 to 1975 (grade 6 to 8) and reflecting back I really wish we
had been able to stay longer. Thanks again for the wonderful site ---

How's it going out there those people who
were in Baden from
72-75. When I read through what everyone has written about their times
in Germany it brought back floods of memories. Remember the Loire Valley
Trip in 72 , Berlin, Ski Week in Engleberg Switzerland. The Sonne (in
Hugy), quarry parties, boonie parties, teen town, hitch-hiking under the
signs for each village Canadians lived in outside the base. We lived in
Weitenung. I worked in the grocery store in the produce department. We
all have so many good memories of our teenage years in Germany. We were
all so lucky to have had the experience. If anyone remembers me, send

Just found out about this site yesterday
and was nicely looking around this magnificent place when the computer
froze up. Made it back and went through today and it really brought back
some more wonderful memories of good times and good friends, and even
some very sad times as I was at the Choloy page. I work at the new 4 Wing
here at Cold lake and I am also a volunteer at the museum and a lot of
the old artifacts from Baden
are here being set up at the Air Force part of the museum. They include
all of the mosaic squadron crests that used to be at the entrances of
each when I was a "snack-bar commando" back in '60 to '64. I have occasionally
run into some of those I knew back then but very few, although I still
remember just about all of those that I knew and when my memory starts
to lag a little I just get out the old Rhine Valley Park year book and
think of Miss. Kara and all the teachers like Miss. Ross and 'Wild Bill'
Gagan and all of the names of friends come flooding back. Of all the bases
that I was at during my dad's career, Baden
was definately the best, a beautiful country, great friendly people on
and off the base, and all of Europe to explore on summer holidays and
weekends. If only it didn't have to end!! Aufweidersein for now, but don't
be shy if you remember me, Gord "gutsy' Guthrie

I was fortunate to be able to visit the old
4 wing two weeks ago with my parents. Ron and Marjorie Cawood had not
been in Baden since
the late seventies and me since 1981. We, along with my sister Lesley,
had been stationed in 4 wing from 1960 to 1964. It brought back some wonderful
memories of those years. It took a while to find the back gate but once
on the baseremembered
landmarks appeared in their beautiful NATO yuck color scheme. The Guardhose
and gatehouse was gone, but the hockey rink looked just the same. You
could almost imagine the Raiders playing. The new buildings for the private
airfield are slowly obliterating the old ones aand it was interesting
to watch the Lear jets landing where the sabres and CF-100s used to land.
The whole base is open to driving so we got a chance to drive through
the sqadron areas that were out of bounds to the dependents in my time.
We took a trip through the PMQs and over to Rhine Valley School. The school
is abandoned and looked like it could be knocked down soon. It was closed
so I couldn't get in to see the old rooms where teachers like Miss Buckles,
Coons and Mr Krelahty struggled so hard to educate us. PMQ block 39 was
still standing and looked very sharp in its new coat of paint and garlands
of flowers. We took the new road into Hugelsheim, no railway anymore and
then up to Buhlertal whhere we lived for a year in 1960. The village is
a bit bigger but very recognizable, but Buhl was unbelievable. It seemed
so small in 1960 and now it looks a lot like a major city only still very
clean. Driving South back to Lahr was very nostalgic for all of us and
I guess made you realize how much life moves on but the good memories
will always linger. Cheers Mike Cawood (Class of 63)

HI All We really enjoyed your site. It is
nice to see so many familiar names and that they are doing well. We were
there from 73 till 77. I was in 3Mech Cdo. Love to hear from any body
that remembers us. 30 some years and 3 trades later, I have 3 years till
retirement. We have back to Germany a few times since then and were surprised
as to the changes there. . Take care and thanks for the Web site. . We
really love it!

Was in germany from 63 - 66 in Hemer then
69 - 70 and up to Baden
in 70 when the army went south. Dad was with PPCLI then # Mech Cdo. Parents
retired and stayed. They had the car sales lot on the corner in Hugie.
Mark payten directed me to the site. It makes me think what a lucky kid
I was to have had my teenage age years and early adulthood in Germany.
Was that a great place to grow in or what!

anything. I am curently a Correcitonal Officer at a youth facility here

Greetings from Vancouver. We miss Germany
and hope to return for a visit in the next couple of years. We were posted
to Baden Soellingen
from 1963 to 1968. One of our girls was born there. We lived in Weitenung
and Rastatt and loved the Rhine Valley. Thank you for keeping the memories
alive with your wonderful website. Good Luck.
