We lived in Baden 87-89, and it was an incredible experience for my entire family...beyond words. How lucky we all were and I do miss it...the culture, the travel, the people and our German neighbours in Weitenung. My family is now spread across Canada and the U.S.(Danita and I went to BSS, while Anne was at BES) we all still keep in touch with a friends made during our short stay in Germany. Would also like to invite anyone who remembers my late father to drop a line (Dan Finney, worked at Base Photo) would welcome the memories, I remember his coworkers being very close and were very good to us, during some hard times). If anyone would like to say hi, or would like me to pass along an email to my Mom (Albertine) or one of my sisters please do finneyj@telusplanet.net

By pure chance I happened to be at the Baden-Airpark last Tuesday, June 24th, and witnessed the landing of a Air-France Concorde. This was also the last flight of a French Concorde and needless to say a very amazing event. The Concorde will be shipped to the Technical Museum in Sinsheim. Believing some of the local news-papers the next day there where between 30000 & 40000 people that came from all over to witness the event. Traffic around the base completely broke down for several hours………… but what a sight when punctual at 12:45 the first sounds were heard and her “majesty” came into sight. Here is a link to www.airlinerphotos.com/concord/ where you can see some beautiful pictures of this truly magical moment. I wish you all a nice day!! Biggi

The 1960-1967 CFNS alumni are trying to locate Rick Sugden. He dosen't owe us any money or anything like that, we just want to find him. His last known was Chatham N.B. in the late sixties. Oh!! By the way!! When we said Rick doesn't owe us anything....we lied..He owes us a round at the Green Trees. So Rick if your reading this, quit playing hard to get...your not that pretty..and let us know where you are.

Hey all! Seems every 6 months or so, I post a little hello here & generally get an e-mail or two from a long-lost Baden friend. I was a base-brat in Baden from '70 to '73, and then stationed there myself from '88 until base closure in '93. I DJed the "Not Necessarily The Top 40" show on CFNS radio on Sat. nights, was involved in a few Baden Playmakers shows and generally had the best days of my life there. I've since gotten out of the military & am now a civvie Oracle database programmer (contractor) at NDHQ in Ottawa. Greetz to all! Scott Morrow

It was the best of times...I was at BES and BSS from 1980-85. My favorite memories are: dances at BSS, the figure skating club, Anne of Green Gables(BSS play in 1985)and of course the school trips. It's amazing what you take for granted when you're a kid! I'd like to hear from anyone feeling nostalgic about that time of our lives. Take care!

Perhaps it was the drive home tonight; coming down a winding road covered in a thick fog which pulled the trigger to Baden Senior memories. (I distinctly remember driving the 'snake' road between Weitnung and the base when the fog was as thick as pea soup). I spent 5 years ('88 to '93) living in Baden and attending BSS. I haven't talked to many people over the last 10 years, but I have had rare visits with folks like Heidi Phaneuf, Mr. Neil Crouch, Jorrie Racicot, Chad Rowe, Kelly Templeton, the Meuris twins, & Stephen Kelman. I now live & work in Toronto. Currently working at Labatt as the Marketing Manager on Stella Artois. Recently moved into a brand new house with my fiancee (Jessica)(we'll be married on Sept 6/03). Anyone wanting to re-connect feel free to send me an email. Also, as the last BSS school president one my jobs was to take the charge and organize a ten year reunion - I haven't lived up to that commitment, but if anyone is seriously considering pulling something like this together, please let me know. Cheers, John Witzing

This is a great site. I haven't visited it in a while. There is a lot more pictures from Baden. I was there from 1967-1972. My family and I had a great time touring around the country. My dad's name is Philip Jeffries everyone called him Jeff. I'm not sure what part of the base he worked at. He and my mom were also in France 3 Wing in the 50's. We didn't travel Canada much. We were posted from Comox to Baden to Comox agian. I think we were pretty lucky. I miss Germany though. I hope to go back some day. My sister and I grew up in Hugelshiem and Rastatt. (forgive the spelling). Nice to see this site expanding. Does anyone remember the Christmas party for the kids on base? Is there any pictures out there? How about the school ski trip to Austria for a week? I remember a girl how went over a mougal and hurt her back. She had to stay in the hospital there. Hope your doing fine if you read this. Thanks agian. Juli

THANK YOU BOOK FOR OUR VETERANS HI my name is Kim Shergold and I live in Corbeil Ont. Canada. I decided awhile back that I wantd to do something for our Veterans,to show them the Canadian Public and people across the world will never forget what they did to give us the freedom we enjoy today. From that came the idea of asking the Public to send me their THANK YOU LETTERS TO OUR VETERANS,to be compiled into a book of war sketches, and poems for our Veterans, photo's and information of a Veteran you personally know. Personal stories from our Veterans and their families, also war bride stories. I feel the combination of the above can only bring a better understanding for our Veterans to know we will never forget them, and for us through their stories to understand why we can never forget the sacrifices they made for us. There are people that gave so much that are rarely mentioned. Such as band players that brought some happiness even if for a short while. Nurses,Doctors, medics, journalist etc. I could go on for ever. I also hope with this book it may bring old friends together again, and help children looking for information on Fathers they maybe never had the chance to get to know because they gave the Ultimate sacrifice-their life. For those who agree to help us on this journey I ask that you also send a letter giving us permission to use your article in our book. For those who would rather send it snail mail please contact me and I will give it to you then. Your help is greatly appreciated Thank You. Kim Shergold

My wife, Nancy (deceased Oct.23,1999) and I taught at Baden Elementary from Sept. 1973 until June 1976. Nancy was the school librarian, and I taught grade 6. She spent her last year at the Primary school on the base, as the librarian. We lived in the tiny village of Plittersdorf, and were the the only Canadians there for the first two years. We had a wonderful three years, and travelled extensively. We also made some marvellous German friends, that I am taking my new wife, Linda, to meet in June. I always will fondly remember our teaching years there, as one of the most enjoyable times in my life. Good luck with your reunion. We visited the site in 1993, and were really surprised that it had fallen into disrepair. Glad to see that it is being remembered, and perhaps better used. Thanks for your wonderful website.

Hi, What an awewsome site! I was a base brat in Baden from 84-88, I graduated from BSS in 87 and spent a full year getting loaded with my buds Rene Fonseca, Jean Rivard, Scott Ballam, Darell Mugford, Ghyslain Simoneau, I know I am forgetting a few names, so... pretty much anyone else that was there at the beer tents. Man does this site bring back memories. I have kept in touch with most of these guys. I have been serving in the military for 13 years now. Still givin er. I have been married for 12 to my best friend Chantale, and no I am not sucking up. Seriosly any of the guys who have met her can tell you that she rocks! We have 2 great kids Sarah is going to be 8 in march and Matt just turned 6 last week. This site truly brought up some wicked memories, just by seeing some of the names of the people signing in. I think that anyone who has been there misses the place , the times. I was talking to Nathalie Leblanc a few weeks ago. She was at the last reunion in Winnipeg. She said there was supposed to be another Reunion this summer in Halifax. If anybody has any info on this one I would love to here about it. Well, hi again to all who knew me. Feel free to send me an Email. Cheers

Posted to Baden '84-'88 w/2PPCLI (C_Coy, Bn Housing/Corps of Drums {Bad Horn Player}). I'm new to the world of internet stuff, but was THRILLED to find this website. Old names popped up and I just would like to say "a fond hello from Helen & myself to all who remember us"! As many have said, there are multitudes of fond memories and people from that period of our lives that we still talk about today. As an update, "We" retired in '97 (FRP) while posted in Halifax (Army in Navy country???), settled in Winnipeg and had our first child, Hannah Maria in June of '92 - finally our jewel has arrived! Well enough for now, take care to all and hope to hear from someone someday. CHIMO!
