We were posted in Baden from '71-77 and lived in Hugie and in the Q's.
My brother Peter and I were dependants of Bernie and Donna Kyte. I was started school at Baden Jr.
My husband, Blair and I went to Baden in 1997 and I was Shocked at how different everything was, but the PMQ's looked nice.
We also visited Lahr where our family was posted in '81-85....that was a very depressing visit as the base and kaserne
was so run down. Oh well they say you can never go home......but the memories of such an enriching experience will never leave me!

Hello out there! Jenn just sent me this site in email. Great site! Anyone interested, check out Bob Hurley's site as well, it's good! I was in Germany from 1978-1982 and 1985-1989, anyone who remembers me, drop me a line, would love to hear from everyone! Make sure you email Jenn about the reunion, it's going to be a great time!

A very enjoyable page. For all of those who were posted there, I recently went back to visit the old base in August of this year. It looked wonderful. Still very green and looking very un-military. The Q's are painted, the curling club looks good, and the mess is still used. Hugelsheim has not changed a brick. Strongly recommend a return visit for anybody who was posted there.

Excellent idea! This is the second guestbook that I've signed for Germany. Bob Hurley has a site. Just search for Baden Senior School to find it. I lived in Baden from 86-90. I have two sisters, Laura and Deborah. If anyone out there is interested in a reunion for B.S.S students who were there between 80-close send me an e-mail. Rena Grehan, Kim Pennock and myself are trying to get something together for 2000 or 2001. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me!

Posted to 3RCR from 78-80 then the CommSqn "down in the CAG" from 80-82. The base has dramatically changed. The slides leave you wondering if you were ever there or not. Recognized very little except CFNS & Gruner Baum. Where is the Canadian Club, the Ambassador Lounge, Canex, the Foxhole? Guess they are all gone except for the many memories that I will always have.
I have a tape from CFNS somewhere that captured the "Attention all personnel, this is a snowball. All personnel report to your war tasked assigned place of duty." If I can find the tape and get permission (?? from who??) I will upload the audio clip. Remember the noise of those APC's rumbling through Hugy?

Chuck and I with our three girls Donna, Sherry and Kathy spent three wonderful years at CFB Baden 1990 - 1993. We made many friends while we were and we still keep in contact with many of our German friends still. We have been back in Canada now for five years and we still miss Baden and hope to someday make a trip back there for old times sake. The Canadian government made a big mistake when closed the base down. We'd be happy to hear from any of our friends who are hooked up to this site.

What a pleasant discovery! I was a teacher at BSS from 71-75 and was principal of the night school/adult education program. I joined the glorious Rube Band and played for HRH Prince Phillip at the 25th anniversary swearing in of the colours. Memories of wonderful students, parents and colleagues abound. Would like to hear from those students who went on the (first) trip to the Soviet Union.

The brilliance of the geraniums hanging from the window boxes, the smell of the bratwurst cooking at a Weinacht's Markt, the sight of the ladies hunched over the spargel furrows all bring back a flood of irreplaceable memories. Our years in Baden and Lahr(82-89, 91-93) were an incredible experience that will last with us a lifetime. Its great to drop and step back in time with this great web site. Vielen danke!

This is fantastic! Like flashbacks from the past. I was with 3 MECH Commando from 1969 to 1975 and was in Soest previous to that. I played hockey with the Baden Rebels. Anyone who remembers the great hockey games between the Knights and the Rebels please contact me. My wife Val worked for the base newspaper, Der Kanadier. Does anyone know how to access the Kanadier's old news stories about the base? I have some old issues and was wondering if they had an archive somewhere. We are now in the "Land of the Midnight Sun" and enjoying every minute here. I am passing on this website to some of my old buddies and look forward to making new friends also. Great job people!!!!!

We are extremely pleased to see this website. Many thanks to the good folks who put it together. We left "Hugie" in '89 for Trenton. Went back once for a visit in '91 and haven't returned since then. Sonja (Riemer) is from Rastatt and we both miss the area, and our old friends, many of whom still live there. It would be nice to plan a return visit during a Reunion or Special Event. Great Job! Look forward to checking it out in the future to see what has been added. I was/am a Supply Technician and while in Baden I spent two years (1990 to 1992) with 128 AD Bty. When it closed I worked in PMQ supply until the summer of 1993 when my wife and I had to return to Canada, due to her being pregnant. She was a Supply Tech at Aircraft Supply. Being in Cold Lake we are in contact with many Badenites...so I'll pass this site along to all. If anyone wants to check out my site...I've just started but there is a page about Baden that I am working on. Tschuss!

What a GREAT job you are doing with the Baden Remembered Site. Thank
you SO much for letting us know about it. It is indeed a fabulous
format for sweet memories!
We are STUART and JOAN MILLAR - 414 Squadron.
Stuart participated in Leapfrog 4 comprised of three squadrons of Sabres
(414, 422 and 444) as the operational entity in the opening of 4 Wing at
Baden Soellingen. The aircraft arrived in late August 1953.
I, along with two other wives of 414 Squadron arrived by Super
Constellation in October 1953. After living at zum Adler in Rastatt for
two months, Stuart and I moved to 10 Hauptstrasse in Gaggenau for a years
period awaiting the completion of PMQs, which we occupied (Building 16 -
Apt 2.) in December 1954. Our tour, with many happy memories, including
the arrival of our first son, born at the Josepheninheim in Baden Baden,
ended in September 1956.

We had three wonderful years in Baden from 1990 to 1993. We were in charge of The Red Shield Club or "Sally Ann". Betty Ann was involved in Guiding on the Base and Doug was involved in Minor Hockey and the Baden Rube Band. This is a terrific site and we would be gland to hear from anyone who ate at the "Sally Ann"

Hi all. Great page. I was in Baden as a "brat" from 70-72 and stationed there in 1 CAG as a safety systems tech from 81-86. Played with the CAG Knights, had a great time meeting so many people. Currently posted in London. Looking for old school mates and badenites that might remember me. Look forward to keeping updated on your page.

I have enjoyed my read through the posted info and think fondly back on my four years at Baden Senior School. It is hard to believe that I came back to Canada 10 years ago this month!!! I am still teaching and am department head of math at a high school in Kingston. I would love to hear from former students and staff from BSS. In fact, it was former student Carloyn Liddiard (Stirling) who told me about this website. Thanks for putting all this together.

Just discovered the web page. Had a great time as a 422 "Sword Driver" from 55 to 59..managed to get back for the base closure and revisited many places which were so memorable from 40 years ago. Expect to spend much time on-line with this site.

We were visiting DND friends in Vancouver and found out about your page. What a terrific idea. There are always great talks when one meets a Baden grad. My best memory of course is marrying an officer I met there. Major Bailey is now in the recruiting end but still in the army. We are both near retirement.

Hello there!
My better half already entered in the guestbook, but of course he forgot about me. I grew up in Hugie and would like to hear from anyone in my past or anyone who knew my parents Franz and Johanna Schaufler from Huegelsheim.
