Great to see a few names from way back when. I was an airforce brat at 4 Wing from 1959 to 1962 and attended Rhine Valley Park School for grades 8, 9 and 10. My father was a Service Policeman. My sister, Lesley, was a grade ahead of me and my brother, Jeff, was only 3 or 4 years old when we were transferred to Trenton, Ontario. Would love to hear from anyone who may remember me and/or who was at the base at about the same time. It would be nice to find out where some of the 'brats' are now located and what they are doing with their lives.

Keep up the good work Sonja, it's an interesting and fantastic web site, and I think it will be around for many more years. I also spent a few wonderful years in 4 (F) Wing ( 68 to 70) and I'm still here since arriving in 77. I also have many fond memories of my Rube Band years, on my first tour and again in 77 and until the band was disbanded in the early 90's. I'm hoping at this time to reach Bob and Mary Jane McLeod, because I tried to send them an E-Mail at rmmcleod@coosavalley.net and it came back address unknown. OK Bob, if you read this then maybe you can give me an update. Thanks again.

I just can't help but repeat a common comment from reading the guest book "tripped out". This site is fantastic. I was in Baden Sollingen from '75 to '88 and '90. I as many feel that was the best time, and the people met were one of a kind. Even if we don't keep in touch there is a bond that exists because of that one of a kind experience. I certainly miss those times. I would certainly like to hear from all my buddies Danny Buttnor, Wendy, Jamie, Jodie(V12), Dee-Dee, Sheila H, and the people I had a beer with

Do you really miss - snowballs, 104s flying overhead, the smell of JP4, engine runups at night, gas masks and poopy suits, tour buses that took you to any city in Europe, the Grunerbaum, towing aircraft from dispersal to dispersal, changing tires every 6 landings, desnagging until 4 am, shopping, getting VAT refunded, everyone you know in North America visiting you and staying free, Christmas crawls, skiing, and beer??? Heck, yes!!! I was there from Feb 81 until Dec 85 and went to Cold Lake. It took me 6 months to slow down to the pace of the northern prairie. Lots of good memories from my tour there. The starfighter is still my favourite aircraft. I still drive the 85 Saab Turbo that I purchased there in Apr 85. Feel free to email me.

I was in Baden from 75-79, 81-84 and 88-93. I was lucky enough to meet alot of great people and travel. My husband Doug and I met in '88 and spent five wonderful years there. we stayed as long as we could before the base closed, it really started to get depressing in the end I would rather remember the good times of my school days, winter carnival, fasching, spargelfest and the Christmas markets.

I have recently updated my computer and entered the world of cyberspace. Finally I can THANK all of you who sent their well-wishes to my husband Marcel Gauthier, during his long fight with cancer. We were in Baden from '87-'92 and they were the best years of our life together. Marcel was Manager of CFNS radio and TV and thoroughly enjoyed his job mainly because of all the wonderful people that worked with him. Right up to the end (September 21, 1999), Marcel was cheerful and often talked about Germany with fondness and fantastic memories. He was Master of Ceremonies at the closing party in Baden...on his 50th birthday. We were both blessed to have known all of you. As for me, I worked for Great Universal Catalogue (remember GUS'S Cottage in Hugi. ?) I wonder if the cottage has still got the sign still up? I also sold my photography and sheepskin rugs after the catalogue company closed. I still have some of the pictures from that time, so if anyone is looking for a specific picture, I just may have it. If anyone remembers me, I would love to hear from you. I'm in Winnipeg, Mb. and would love to see you if you are ever by this way. It was great fun to go through the guestbook, I know that Marcel is reading over my shoulder too. Thanks again to everyone and God Bless.

I just stumbled on this great website and it brought back such memories. My Dad was posted in Baden in 1962. We had arrived there in May and he passed away in October of that year, so we weren't there long enough to make any lasting impressions. My Dad was Gordon Balcom. I did find one person in this guestbook that I remember from 1962, and it would be great to know if anyone else out there remembers me. I'll keep checking now that I've found this great site!

I finally had a chance to revisit the site after many months. It is great to see some familiar names in the Guestbook. I'm still looking for Inga Guy (use to be Spring [james]). She has a daughter Melissa, I believe, and the last time I spoke to her she was in Halifax. If anyone knows her whereabouts I would really appreciate your assistance. I am also very interested in finding Evelyn Goslin (last heard from her she was in Trenton) she has two little girls. Also Irene (& JP) Morgan (last heard I believe they were in Gagetown). If anyone knows the whereabouts of any of these ladies I would appreciate hearing from you. Sonja/Paula you have done an outstanding job with this site.

Well, this site and the overwhelming response is certainly testament to the wonderful experiences shared by the many who were fortunate enough to have lived in Baden... It's been a while since my last entry and so I decided I'd say another hello to anyone who may remember me; B.S.S. from '89-'93; CFNS TV and Radio from '91-'93; Astra Cinema Snack Bar guy from '89-'93; member of the Base Closure band "Crosstown"; brother of Marc, and son of Real and Linda. In 1998 I completed a B.A.(Hon.) in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. Following a year's break from the stresses of school, I've now returned to university and am studying Law at Queen's University in Kingston. My brother Marc is engaged to be married in the spring and is completing a year of internship as a civil/design engineer in Toronto, which will be followed by the completion of his Degree at Western in the Fall of 2000. My wonderful parents are living in Trenton Ontario where my father is enjoying his retirement, and my mother is working part time as a cashier in a local store. Thanks to all who responded to my previous post. For the rest of you reading this, please send a quick hello and update as I'm always curious as to how everyone is doing. Ron Bergeron, Chad Rowe, Terry Curtis, Karen Brake, Davey Marcotte, Rod Racine, Al Arsenault... Thank-you for this site.

After all this time! I thought I had my name already in the guestbook! My memories of Baden and the people I met there are still my fondest. Hard to believe it's been fifteen years since I've seen a lot of those friends. I been in contact with a few of them, but lost contact with most. I'm still trying to find Anne Marie Kozlik, Mike Stagg, Sheldon Wagg and Angie Spooner. Don't let that stop you from mailing me though.

Hi! I was in Baden from 73-78 at Baden Junior School and Baden Elementary School. I was in Baden again in 85-86 at BSS for Grade 13. We moved to Lahr from 87-90. My dad taught at BSS from 73-78 and 85-87. He was Vice-Principal at Lahr Senior from 87-90. My brother Gary was also around during those years. We spent most of our time in various beer tents drinking ourselves into oblivion and chasing everygirl that happened by. We hung out with Dave Parnell, the Ballam brothers, Bruce Bonner, Darren Hawrish, Peter Vivian, Suzanne Bailey, Karen Larkey, Janice Robertson, Rodney Stuparyk, Jim Brown and many others... To all those who read this message and have been previously offended by any of us during one of our many drunken binges...too bad!! Drop me a line.

I spent five years in Baden from 88 - 93, with 3 RCR. I started out in Pioneer Platoon working with Andy Macleod, Paul Bailey. Than moved on to sigs and "N" Coy for the tour of Yugo in 92. I had a chance to visit the base three times in 98 and I couldn't beleive the changes. I hardly recognized the old RCR lines. THose five years have always been the best time of my life in the military. It's great having a site like this so we can remember the good old days. It sure does bring back some fond memories. Take Care.
